Air Springs - rear suspension height leveler (under load) ??

Hi Clem,

With my application, I've added the Gremel Tech Air Springs, in addition to the already fitted TJM Gold series upgraded suspension.... so I think the shocks are already the heavier duty type...

Now I'm just waiting till next month, for the first medium off-road trials, as we're off to the Breede River area, accessed via gravel roads, as I'm led to believe.... I'll post my experience to this links thereafter...

this is the set up as fitted. I've checked the air-feed pipes, and they seemed well placed

Okay - good luck... In the end I fitted twin shocks. BTW, are those spring seats the right way around?

I've just had some feed-back from Gremel Tech, after sending them photos of the finsihed installation..... ... AND yes, they say the white stepped spacer was supposed to locate in the upper spring opening, with the wider flat side up against the red bellow, and the shallower (not shown) spacer (that the fitment centre has fitted on top, is supposed to go below ....

All must now be dismantled, and re-arranged. Thanks for the query, that prompted me to ask further questions ...
At least I hadn't done more than the mileage back home, after fitment.....

Very interesting to read the postings. I fitted airbags and very happy with them, even at high speed (130+) with full load.
Regarding the traveling of the suspension, also no problem.
See photo from a trip in Lesotho with 3 people in the car and gear for week.

Most of the air helpers available are for standard suspension and raised to 50mm suspension, but if you have raised your vehicle further the standard air helps offer no assistance. I did have a set with my original 50 mm set up and they are worth every penny I paid. Once I went to the 100mm lift they had to be removed. Still looking at a set for the rear, but they will have to be LR collapsible types.

I finally had the air spring helpers fitted the correct way around, and tested the Troll on the N2 (Swellendam to Breede River / Infanta gravel road route.... done a total of +-200km on the gravel, including the De Hoop whale outlook (spotted at least 15-20 whales from vantage point), then off to Bredasdorp (from 40-100km/hr, pumped to 1.0 bar pressure)

RESULT = WHAT A BEAUTY -- excellent stability, with four people and baggage loaded, and a VERY comfortable ride. Tyre pressure was 1.8 bar (could have gone down to 1.6 on the slightly rougher patches, but 1.8 was great on the majority of the reasonable gravel stretches)

Had the Air spring helpers on my last 3 vehicles and would recommend it strongly. Both on and off road it makes a huge difference with heavier loads.
