GQ 4.2 Turbo Radiator

Post by Grant »

Gents,

Need you advice please. After travelling on our trip, found my Trolls radiator had sprouted a leak on the first day. Was forced to put Wynns stop leak in which solved the problem. Travelling to Afriski, the Troll did very we with EGT LOW but water temp crept up to 114 C. :helpsign: :helpsign: :helpsign: Down hills would see as low as 52 C. Ambient was around 2 to 7 C. Cedric was running the same route but has a much larger raiadtor fromCab star truck fitted and temps where well below mine. Also my EGT's where generally lower. I am now contemplating fitting a larger manufactured radiator and will be taking the Troll to Radiatir City in Pretoria North to have a custome cooler made.

Water pump is new (20k km old) and I will also be fitting a new thermo and cap. I general the troll ran to a max of 89C every where else.

Any suggestions on good dealer for radiator manufacturs and also any other items I should look at.

Grant, I must say that I have had fantastic service from Silverton Radiators here in Alberton. I think they know their field and were always straight up and honest with me and fair on their pricing. Not sure about there in the Pta area though

One other thing though, My viscous fan has seized solid ( ja ja I know i better get it sorted out  , but waiting for someone to go to UAE .... )
So my motor is working through that extra power drain pushing up EGT's slightly but ensures that air is always sucked through the radiator. But yeah my radiator is HUGE and even climbing Van Reenens with EGT's sitting at 580 odd degs, my temp never even got to half. It stayed just below half.

Hi Cendric,

Troll will be at SAC on Monday, and Gerhard will be removing the radiator to inspec. He has a few contact and he will be building the biggest that we can fit in the front. I will aslo be cleaning out the intercooler, and taking of the winch. I have had it on the troll for about two years and never used it.

TX and see you on Saturday. Will have stick with all the pics for you.
