Placement of 2nd Battery
If you fit a dual battery system on the 4.8 GRX - is there space inside the engine compartment for the battery ? If anyone can help with this (and pics if possible) it would be much appreciated.

Re: Placement of 2nd Battery
Jan, space is very limited under the bonnet.
Earlier models didn't have ABS and a few things could be moved around to make space for the battery but on later models most guys rather put it in the back when needed.
Baie geluk met die nuwe lorrie!

Re: Placement of 2nd Battery
Some Oz guys put the extra battery in the engine compartment right next to the existing one, but they move the receiver dryer etc. Normally not the biggest of batteries though

76ah fits nicely, the window washer water bottle must also be moved.AndriesS wrote:Some Oz guys put the extra battery in the engine compartment right next to the existing one, but they move the receiver dryer etc. Normally not the biggest of batteries though

Re: Placement of 2nd Battery
Hi, My 2nd battery is fitted at the back, in my drawer system. Shortern the drawer and it works perfectly.
This is of course if you have a drawer system.

Re: Placement of 2nd Battery
My Russian-spec Y60 came from the factory with a second battery. Since it has no ABS or a/c, the second battery is placed up front, one on the driver side and one on the passenger side.

Re: Placement of 2nd Battery
Chris, Thanks for the link to Rockstompa's setup.
I showed this to Dewald at Winelands 4x4 and he will see if he can manage the same in the engine compartment when my Trol arrives and goes in for mods next week. Will keep you posted.
