Where does it come from. Japan, China, Australia or SA. Does the Vin no state.
Also why and how do we get only selected models here. What criteria is there for bringing in certain models.
Just asking...................................cheers Ian

The VIN Number does state where it was built! The "JN1" at the start of the number means that it was built in Japan.

My VIN also starts with JN1, which identifies the vehicle as being made in Japan (the "J") by Nissan (the "N") and as a passenger vehicle (the "1").
Does anyone have a Patrol with a VIN starting with anything else?

Ja. Mine doesnt start with JN1. I posted about this just before the manky miscreants hacked this forum.
Mine sommer starts with the vehicle codes: "WRGY60". Standard roof, TD42, LWB, Y60/GQ Patrol.
Thanks guys, this explains why Nissan Dealers are always hassling me saying I've given them an incomplete VIN.

Great, this is an excellent reference! On mine the 3rd part (of the series depicted in the jpg) is 'E' which probably signifies the 3.0TDi engine

Just remember each vehicle has a Model Variation Number as well!

Hi Herrie,
It looks like that VIN description is for the Y61's. Is it also applicable to other 'RSA' Patrols?
