What option is the best.

I have two options which is the best one - please help

Both 1995 Models

Option one:
142000km on the clock
Suspention done otherwise stock standard
31" tyres very good condition
R70,000
Have R10,000 to spend on vehicle

Option two
223000km on the clock
Rock sliders
Iron Man suspension
Spotlights
Dual battery system
Bullbar
33" tyres x6 Cooper STT
Roofrack
ARB difflock front
Seat covers
R80,000

What engines do they have and in what condition are they? You certainly can't buy all those extras for R10000.

Take the one with the lower Kilo's [provided they are genuine ??] - The one with all the extras has worked HARD -- fixing it will cost more time, patience and bucks than the accessories [wich you dont REALLY need -- on a PATROL they ar e nice to haves ... mostly :-))

Ek stem saam met oompie Mac VAT DIE EEN WAT 142 000km ophet, toe ek my GQ gekoop het het hy ook 60000km minder opgehad as die ander een wat n integrated bullbar, mags, ekstra fuel tank. Dit klink of die een met al die assecories hard kon gewerk het. Is daar enige bewys van dienste , ek sal besluit om die R10K op iets te spandeer wat jy defnitief gaan gebruik en regtig nut toevoeg tot die lorrie.Weet nie waar jy bly nie maar probeer dat van die forum ouens met kennis na die lorries vir jou kyk.

I'm going to throw a spanner in the works now......

Those extras are worth probably R55 odd thousand. I don't know what type of motor they are, but you could open up that motor and hone sleeves (if diesel ), new rings and bearings, new genuine Nissan head gasket, re-seat valves etc for way under R30K, should that motor give you grief. I say this cause I bought my 4.2 diesel Patrol with 175 000 km on and had HUGE burnt hole in the no 2 piston due to injectors never being serviced.... so .... luck of the draw.

drive both.... feel the vehicle... listen to it... see which one loves you back..... then that's the one you take and do the necessary preventative maintenance, and enjoy it !!

Ek gaan nie met die ander manne stry nie want hulle benadering is suiwer. 142000km vir 'n 1995 model klink 'n bietjie goed om waar te wees. 223000km klink meer realisties. Werk maar die gemiddelde kilos per jaar uit. Patrols is sterk. Myne het 208000km (1998 model) en ek het nie noemenswaardige probleme nie, inteendeel ek is baie gelukkig nadat ek 'n drie jaar jonger Patrol met slegs 122000km op die klok 'n mis gegee het. Ek het slegs by nadere inspeksie na omtrent twee ure met 'n vloekskoot agter gekom dat die motor 'n stamp op die linkerkant gekry het waarvan die verkoopsman kwansuis niks geweet het nie.

As die kilos eerlik is sou ek ook vir die 142000km model gaan, maar daar is baie aspekte om na te kyk, en ek sou eerder seker maak. 'n Motor met baie mods op beteken nie noodwendig dat die voertuig hard gewerk het nie. Daar is baie ouens wat mod opsits vir die show. Kyk in watter toestand is al die mods en die motor se onderstel,ens.

Netso kan 'n motor wat relatief min kilos op het, deur die laaste eienaar deur sy g@t getrek gewees het. Ek sou die voertuig 'n goeie once-over gegee het met 'n Patrol-kenner wat oor my skouer loer voordat ek die besluit sou maak. Gaan ry met albei dit kan jou dalk ook tot beter insigte bring. Sterkte.

I agree with most, look at the car is it town km or bush km???
140 is not a lot also 224 is cool if it was looked after but remember. A patrol is not a car that needs to be rebuild at 250 km nie just look. At suspension steering diflock interior dash ect and drive them both . On the aus form guys were talking on getting 600 000 km on a motor

The ARB diff lock in the front axle of that Patrol will cost you R20k (including the compressor & insatallation), and really improves the vehicle's capability.

However, the Patrol is already very capable, and as such there are only two reasons why front diff locks get fitted. The first, and least likely reason is that the the owner has money to burn. The more likely reason is that this car has worked really hard off-road, and this kind of use takes it's toll.

However, the options fitted will cost far more than the price difference, and the 142k km on the other car sounds too good to be true.

I would look very carefully at the full-house one, particularly as it already has all or most of the extras you are looking for?

Both are petrol motors and manual.

The one with the higher milage was used as overlander only, no 4x4 tracks exetra - so they say.

Just thit is in Cape Town (No rust) so I will have to fly down to test drive

Guys father is a -mechanic- so he has been looking after the vehicle, from the MANY foto's I can not see anything bad but photo's can be decieving.

And lets be honest - the extras - me like

The guy is working on an oil rig (docter) and his dad has a transport company - money does not seem to be a problem, and both of them bought a new Land cruiser

The rigged out Patrol is starting to sound more and more the one you must then look at if what they are saying is true, tell them you want to swap the the bells and whistles from the high mileage to the low mileage Patrol.

Put some of the photos on the forum and lets have a look, is there not a Patrol owner in the Cape Town area that can go and have a look
