Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

I need your guys help! I need to replace the front left mirror on my 2006 GRX...but I can't seem to figure out how to remove the door panel?? Any advise?

Christovdw, I had to do some screw tightening to my passenger side mirror. Mine is the 99 model so there are a few differences, but the principal should be the same. Its a little tricky but a little slow tenderness and a few swear words and its a walk in the park....ha ha

1) Remove the screws of the armrest. If no screws can be seen ( they are usually quite robust in size ) they might be hidden under the "soft" part of the armrest. This might need too be wiggled off carefully. Check for cables for you window button. Disconnect the wires at the clip if possible.
2) Then the door opening lever has a cover which is clipped into the door panel itself. The lever part will stay behind. I used a small flat screwdriver to depress the clip to allow the cover to click out of itself one at a time. there are clips/catches, 2 on top and 2 on the bottom. unclip the top 2 and the bottom ones sort themselves out.
3) Then with a long flat sturdy screwdriver GENTLY open a small gap between the steel of the door and the masonite door panel, and look in the gap. You should see ( on mine they are pink) a plastic clip holding the door panel to the steel of the door. With the screwdriver seat it in the clip plastic "washer/ridge" and the steel of the door and gently work it till it pops out ( almost like a press stud on clothing ).
4) Move to the next clip and repeat all the way round. You should be able to lift the bottom of the panel without any restriction.
5) Lift the complete panel up ( in the direction that the window closes ). This might need a little encouragement to unclip it.
6) The little corner piece near the mirror has a little press "screw" that needs to be gently wiggled out with two small screwdrivers ( I used lots of swearing here.... and still cracked the lip of the screw in half ), and then you have access to the bolts holding the mirror.
7) Refit on reverse order. When clipping the panel back to the door, make sure that the "pink" clips are in the correct place on the panel.

Cedric, it may be even simpler!

1. According to the manual, you only have to remove a single screw that holds the inner cover in place, then prise off the mirror cover (a padded screwdriver is suggested).
2. You'll find three screws behind that - undo them while supporting the mirror from the outside.
3. Disconnect the elecrical connector (if fitted).

Thanks for the feedback. I definitely not as easy as Christo's pictures. The bolts on the Y61 are all recessed....so you can get to them is a MISSION. It too me half a day with A LOT of patience to remove the bolts...but I'm afraid that I'll have to remove the panel to refit them.

DOH!! I gave you advice for a Y60, instead of a Y61

I had my front doors & mirror trim apart last weekend (to upgrade speakers) and I'm sure the mirror trim can be removed without taking the door panels off. At least that saves a bit of trouble?

How did you get to those mirror bolts - I presume a slim/thin socket gets to them?

I'm starting to doubt myself now.... but I know I did remove the door panel aswell to get to the triangular plastic bit, but was it necessary....hmmmm .... there now is the doubt.

The 3 mirror screws were the easy bit. A big phillips screwdriver and they were off in a flash. Just remember to hold the mirror on the other side....ha ha
