MASS AIR FLOW METER

Post by KOOS BEST »

Hi , after reading all the post on the Ozzie site regarding good engine maintenance and them recommending replacing the MAF every 120 000 km .I asked my local dealer for a quote on this little spare part. Hell i could not believe it. Whats wrong with Nissan. Patrols are such great vehicles but to mantain thats the other thing.
As a previous Landy owner , and helping my boet in servicing his two TD5 models, I must say its much much cheaper to drive a Landy. Theres so many Landy specialist part shops available. If anybody say they have those shops so they brake so much, then me ,and my boet mst have owned acceptions to the rule , we never , never suffered any breakages. As a matter of fact we are awaiting for spontaneous combustion!! of our vehicles.
Look at the price!!!
e MAIL I received from Nissan

Hi koos
The price is R6554-33 incl
Thank you

Eish. At that price it would be worth the effort to find out what it'll cost to import the part yourself either from Australia or Japan.

Another item for the collective potential Patrol4x4 group buy scheme?

At some stage we need to investigate an avenue to either import directly ourselves or get in bed with an importer/ exporter ...

Might be worthwhile checking on import duties etc to ascertain whether it would be beneficial to source directly ourselves!

Anyone with the contacts to handle this one? :helpsign:

Saltman, I agree totally.
Is there no Nissan generic spare part shop like for Landies, Cruisers ect in SA, or Gauteng. Where we can order stuff from ?
When I questioned the exorbitant prices of Patrol spares, the guy at Nissan told me "remember you are driving the flagship of Nissan, so expect to pay a lot for your spares" WHAT A LOAD OF BULL!!!!!!
Re. the MAF , have any of you replaced it lately? I see some Ozzies says when they fit a new one , how their compsumption and performance improve so nicely.

Come on who,s got contacts at Nissan

I think the Almera MAF ill work on the Patrol. I know the Almera oil filtre fits on the Patrol. Cheaper to by Almera parts than Patrol parts.

Hi Wheels, how do we find it out . Do you mean the 3.0 d or 4.5 or4.8p MAF.
Thats my point my local dealer told me I am paying more cause its the Nissan Flagship, so if you buy a wheel nut for a 1400 its 1/4 of the price of a Patrol.Thats sound crazy.
John, cant we negotiate a better deal for spares and service through the club at Nissan headoffice?

We are trying to negotiate a deal with Nissan SA for Nissan 4x4 Club members will keep you updated.

Will a bad connection on the AFM let the Patrol "ping"?

I've replaced my MAF recently. I picked up a second hand one from a guy in Pretoria. I got the airfilter complete with. But yes, Nissan SA is too expensive. A rear bumper light on 2000 GRX is R3700?!?!?! :surprised: MADNESS

You can get MAF's on Ebay from Australia for: AUS$550. or ZAR3600. Wich is not bad. You'll have to pay shipping though. But still, not too bad. Mine went shitters after a weekend IN the river!! :drinkingcheers: That was brilliant!!, but expensive!!

Picked up this link from a Landrover thread on 4x4community.co.za, I see they stock Nissan Airflow Meters as well.
