Unichip

Post by arnoldh »

Hi Guys

I know this topic has been discussed at length. I am looking at the Unichip by SAC for my 4.8 GRX. I am not looking for more performance. I want a better fuel consumption. Currently I get 5.2km/l and would like a range of 800km.

Any suggestions.?

Regards

Get your self a long range main tank. The chip is not worth the money. You might get an extra 10 kw but it does not help you save any fuel. Recent trip to Malawi with a friend of mine (also in a 4.8 GRX) saw no improvement in his fuel economy. He has a chip in his car. Make sure your car is properly tuned. I get between 5.8 and 6.2 km/l in every day traffic. The best economy on the recent trip to Malawi was 6.9km/l.

The only way to tune a 4.8 is through a unichip, without it,no tuneing.I know the chips are supose to help with the fuel consumption, but it seems not to work properley.
Fit a proper freeflow exhaust, that will make a huge differance.

OK it makes sense, thanks. Anybody know of somebody in Upington or closest who can do decent tuning?
