Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

The lower solenoid is usually the culprit. When the vehicle is in 4x4 L or 4x4 H and the difflock switch is on, the lower solenoid should supply a vacuum to engage the difflock. If there is no vacuum, you can switch the difflock off and the vacuum should be on the upper solenoid. Remove the pipes from the solenoids and fit the lower pipe to the upper solenoid. The difflock should now activate. If not, there is a problem with the pipes to the back or with the unit at the rear axle.

I've not read the whole manual yet, but my guess would be that it could be key that the sensor does tell the system that it is locked and ready and it also should change the ABS profile or de-activate it as well.

Went to Graham this morning. The culprit is the Hitachi solenoid that just needed a tap or two with a screwdriver. A bit of Q-20 and my DIFF-LOCK issue was a problem of the past!!!


Thanks Graham!!! 2 Minutes and problem was found. It seems dust could be culprit and the fact that I haven't used the DIFF-LOCK for almost 2 years. Not my fault I don't need it when going off-road!

If I have not used my driverrain to its full functionality in any given month, I tend to take 5 minutes to engage 4x4 H / L; manual hubs and diff lock. I believe they need to be used to remain in good order.

Hi Nismonator, can you maybe show us a pic of the guilty solenoid so we know in the future what to check ??

When you open your bonnet its on the right under the windscreen. I think the pic is two pages back.

Ek wil ook net terug raporteer.

Q20 en paar hou met my leatherman het my R2500 gespaar. Saterdag gou die pypies afgetrek (een vir een) Q20 ingespuit, paar kappe met die leatherman op die body van die solonoide, en daar suig hy.

Ek het Saterdag middag die Patrol uitgevat vir so bietjie bene rek by Tarentaalrand se 4x4 baan, alles werk voorwiele werk saam difflock werk saam, lieflik.....

Wonderlik, bly om te hoor.
Nissan wou destyds my R11,0000 var om die solenoiid voor te vervang, toe was dit nie eers die probleem gewees nie.

My diff lock liggie op die dash het weer begin met sy nukke. En dit na Graham 'n nuwe indicator switch after op die diff ingesit het.
Moes Saterdag weer losmaak en bietjie wikkel. Daardie switch het nou eenmaal 'n neiging om vas te haak.

Frans Reichert...ek sien jy sê dat jy Q20 ingespuit het wat probleem opgelos het....ek net nie seker...waarin het jy die Q20 gespuit??? In pype in....of in solenoid in? Sal bly wees as jy vir my meer spesifieke info kan gee. My diflock liggie bly ook aan en wyer om af te sit. Dankie
