Sorry for the late reply chaps...
As I had spoken to Richard before about potentially getting a rear bumper made, I had seen his roofracks and liked his work (good reviews on landy and LC forums as well). He was also willing to fit me in and had everything done in one week.
Peter for overlanding purposes I think it does the job perfectly, bearing in mind that I required a custom job that was limited by the awkward positioning of the intercooler pipe. The transfer case protection plate you designed is well conceived and I'm sure you will be able to come up with an improved bash plate which can hopefully be standardised for the other members.
I paid R2,735 incl VAT for the bash plate and R7,045 for the roofrack and fittings and coating (R5,800 basic roofrack). His roofracks really are great quality. I will post more pics on the roof rack at a later stage (things I like, things i dont like etc).
Cheers
Dave

The bottom 1/3 of that plate is entirely unsupported, and that is exactly where I would expect it to need strength?
While it looks great, in my opinion it is almost useless. If you guys give me till desember, I am sure I can come up with something better. And since I know what he paid, I can confidently say mine will be cheaper too.
Peter
I am also definately interested.

Hello All
Is there anybody with Y60 who wants one, or only Y61's?

Pieter,
I will also take one. My concern is that the bash plate will be bumper specific. I have a TJM bar which has a different profile on the bottom, than an ARB,Onca, Burco, or Nudge M.(That is if we want it to fit flush with the bumper as per the pics in this pos

t)

These are picts of some of the EASY parts of Baboon's Pass .. and if you are "in" on the Baboons excursion next year [D V] me thinks a plate up front will be a ggreat aid ...
(I was too busy on the other sections to bother with "foto-making" [kiekies neem]

Grant this is part of why I asked the question of how many Y60 owners want.
The Y61's bumper is located quite a lot further forward than the Y60's.
There are two options here.
1) I can make something that will fits both cars. It will not look as good on the Y61's as the one on David's car, but will be very effective at protecting all the vulnerable parts. Also, this will be the cheapest option for everybody, as the quantities are increased. This would probably look a bit like the plastick wind deflector fitted to the Y61.
2) I can make plates that fit the Y60 and a different one to fit the Y61. This will be slightly more expensive for all buyers (but probably still less than R1k unpainted), and will mean that a volunteer with a Y61 would have to come and visit me for a measuring session.
Anybody who specifically wants one to perfectly match a specific bumper is welcome to visit me, but his product will be more expensive than either of the above options.
Please can we have a vote on this? I need to start getting an idea of quantities?

Peter
I am interested in one dedicated specifically to the Y61.
If there are no volunteers closer to you, you can use mine for measuring. I am in Centurion, but will gladly visit you.
Regards,
Gerhard

Peter,
Count me in. I would also like to get one made-up for Y60. Might be good idea to come around for a measuring session to make sure all is well. Please let me know.
Cheers

Peter, ek stel belang in 'n skidplate vir die transfer case ook. Ek het die garingtjie daaroor gelees. Het jy nog?
