Out of curiosity
Has anyone ever seen or heard of a TD42 engine from the GU being put into a GQ to replace a TB42?
Success or failure stories?
Thanks
Dave

Dave my personal feeling is not to remove the TB42 enjin except if it is completely stuffed, then I think I will still replace it rather with the Nissan 4.5 petrol it apparantley fits like PIET op GRIET, but that is my opinion as a non mechanical Patrol junckie

Hi Dave
I did the opposit by taking a TD 42 from a GQ and putting it into a GU that was TB 42.It was an easy job but I had to remove the electrics from the GQ for the glow-plugs and graft them into the GU, but all is good and the thing runs like a dream. What's wrong with your TB42 ? I have a complete one if you are looking for a good one to replace your old one.Alan VS is also selling his TB45 with all the electrics if that is better for you.
Regards
Dennis

Sorry for the late reply...
I am predominantly curious at this point about what potential options are.
Engine is runnning perfectly... giving it my first service this weekend which I am really looking forward to.
I must admit, since purchasing Jongosi all i can think about / talk about is 4x4... swambo is very jealous of the lacking attention and repetitive 4x4 talk

Re: Fitting TD42 from GU into GQ with TB42
I tell you something... during the whole process of looking for a patrol I was convinced that I wouldnt be able to sell my BMW.
Now I look at it like a bastard child.. with that "what are you doing in my driveway" kind of look! I want 2 patrol's in my driveway!!
Despite my Ox's bumps and bruises, I'll take her any day over the BMW.
To me, BMW = conformity. Jongosi = freedom.
