Re: Patrol 4.2 TD - mods for more power
Hi Fanus.......
Yes, sorry I haven't given an update on progress yet, but I'm still in Nigeria working at the moment.
Luckily I'm heading back to South Africa on Tuesday for 4 weeks, and will be picking up my new bakkie from my neighbor on Wednesday.
I seriously can't wait
.
There are new trallies waiting to be fitted, and the following week I hope to drive to Jo'berg to have the new bumper and snorkel fitted (BRZ).
At the same time I will drop by at SAC in Boksburg for the exhaust, tuning and madman EGT system.
Will definitely post an update as soon as it's all done.
All the best.
Dave.

Re: Patrol 4.2 TD - mods for more power
Finally i took delivery of my new bakkie.
I gave my first impressions on another thread, but after a few days of ownership I'm very happy with my decision to buy a Nissan again.
Well the mods started already
....
Yesterday i took a drive to Pretoria to have a snorkel and new front bumper fitted.
The snorkel is on but there was some confusion as to the model of the vehicle so the bumper will wait a few more days.
The owner of the business is a real nice guy and was so apologetic. He even offered to drive to our place in Vaalwater to fit the correct one next week.
As it turns out that wont be necessary as while there i asked if they did a rear bumper for the patrol bakkies.
It seems that nothing is available so the owner asked if he can build me a custom made one.
I agreed and his guys went ahead and tacked one up to my spec while i waited. See pic....
I was well impressed, and the bumper is going to look so good once welded up an painted etc.
Both bumpers will be ready to fit in a week or so after which i will post some more pics.
Next its off to SAC on Monday and Tuesday for the performance mods

Re: Patrol 4.2 TD - mods for more power
Just by looking at that BZT rear bar i can tell its going to be a very attractive bar. I got an ONCA bar, so does SJC, which are by far the strongest bars i've ever seen fitted, regardless of vehicle type, but the BZT range have seriously spiked my interest and i'll be keen to see the finished product!
I find it incredible that they were able to fabricate a bar while you waited. I imagined they must have used the cruiser main plates etc and done some tweaking to get it into shape to tac together....?
As for your Pickup, you got yourself a solid truck there, keep the pics coming dude.
All the best
Russ.

Re: Patrol 4.2 TD - mods for more power
The guys at BZT really went out of their way to help, and i was also suprised that they could rig up the rear bumper in a few hours.
The centre section was from the later patrols and they built it up from there.
It is actually a bit chunkier than it looks on the pictures without completely dominating the rear end, which was the look i wanted.
Regarding the locker, i ordered a Detroit for the front from TAC 4x4. That should arrive in a week or so and I'll let them fit it for me.
Will probably ask them to change the rear diff oil while they are busy with it.
And i promised myself i would hold back on the mods
.
Oh well in for a penny in for a pound etc hehe.

Re: Patrol 4.2 TD - mods for more power
Bakkie now back from SAC in Boksburg.
30kw increase in power and 80nm increase in torque.
There is such a difference in driveability. Faster and smoother.
Cost was 13500 for new exhaust and downpipe from turbo, madman ems and dyno/tune.
I think it definitely money well spent

What was the final figures after the dyno run?
Also, what boost are you running at?
EGT temps?
