National Patrol forum and Nissan Club GTG
Hi Guys,
Some ideas have been kicked around saying that we should meet our friends on the forum in real life.... I agree !!! I want to see and chat face to face with the guys in the Cape, and from Bloem and from KZN. The Gautengers pretty much know and have met each other.... so lets kick some ideas around on how we can arrange a National GTG.
1) Where to host the event. - Somewhere central to all in SA - This does not have to be a 4x4 event, more along the lines of a little overland trip with something scenic to see. Remember we had 63 or 64 Patrols at the Patrol's 60th birthday so I think there will be large numbers attending ( judging by the size of this Forum)
2) When to host the event. - mid to late 2014, over a looooooong weekend

Re: National Patrol forum and Nissan Club GTG
Hi Ricster
Some of us suffer from a greater addiction to obstacle driving than others.
This will be a GTG for both off-roaders and and over-landers.
So perhaps something that is overland and some challenges, maybe?

Re: National Patrol forum and Nissan Club GTG
Can be done, depending on what is available in the central area chosen... Maybe the Bloem guys have some ideas on this....

Re: National Patrol forum and Nissan Club GTG
Unfortunately Bloem is as flat as a pancake. The one trail we have near Bloem is Die Oewer. The Bridgestone 4x4 fundi final was held there last year.

I did the Wegry 4x4 training there and we did a part of the trail. Some dongas and a river drive. The guy that owns the place is the 4x4 guy in Bloem. He organized the Maxxis 4x4 challenge also in Bloem. Maselspoort is about 40km out of Bloem and has lots of camping/chalets.

We can use this as a place to stay.
Gariep is an option, but there are no trails that I know of.
I think this is a "Bak plan"

Re: National Patrol forum and Nissan Club GTG
Gariep = Donkerpoort, I think that is the name, it is a trail that 4x4 community does at their National GTG at Gariep.
I drove it with the new Isuzu and it was not bad, nothing extreme except one water crossing, the rest was interesting.
