Hope I got the attention of the clever manne.
On Sunday, after a relaxing drive at the mine dumps, I realized that the dash background lighting was dead. This makes it impossible to monitor the important meters like the coolant temp and oil pressure, never mind the speed. At least I have a GPS to check that out whilst driving at night.
Back home I started to check the fuses, and all was fine. Whilst I was pressing down hard on all the fuses together in a randomly order, the background lighting came on for about a second. Re-check all the fuses, none was blown??
Could this have something to do with the center roof mounted 'inclometer'(?). I had to remove it to re-mount the mirror which the idjit at the glass fitting company broke off whilst fitting a new rubber, because the old one might not have been the leaking culprit(it might have been only a blocked drain pipe)

When I removed that console I saw the little wire was squashed but not severed or the insulation damaged.
Basically, after this long description of the problem, is there a clued-up auto sparky that you guys know of that can have a quick peek at my truck? In Jo-burg or Pta area? I know some auto electricians become a little reluctant to do fault finding on such a small and stupid problem, but it seems I'm dangerous when attempting this kind or work myself, but still willing to do so. Any other suggestions?
Regards,
André
