thanks Stefan
but i don't think there is (long)enough wiring left to connect a new lug to - i think i will need to open it up and reassess and try and get new wiring connected
also, it seems as if the rubber seal has worn/melted so i'm nervous of water getting in there, i want to seal it properly
thanks for the input guys

I see what you mean. Do you have any idea what may have caused this? (any rats/mice in your engine?)

very sharp ricster
i have no idea though - there are no signs of any mice/rats Stefan
i don't want to mess it up further though(i'm an office junky you know
) so i'm thinking that i'll take it to an auto electrician rather - any suggestions for a reliable one in the Joburg/Westrand area?

just some quick feedback.....i managed to fix it myself
'n boer maak 'n plan - joined the brass strap wiring using some lugs and voilla the trollie starts again without hesitation
cheapest fixed i've done so far (besides a few harsh words removing and re-fitting
)
