Low arch, high vehicle, Eish!
I know swambo must get more exposure to the driving of Witblits, so....
Today my "week" car was in for a service.
Witblits is for weekends only, but now had to do duty today.
Since I was visiting a client today that only provides under-roof parking, I had to borrow swambo's Hyunday.
This of course means Swambo gets to take Witblits
So, towering at 2.35 meters (with the tent ontop), I did not think of reminding her to check arches, parkways etc before entering.
So this is the damage.
Witblits only came halfway through the arch. Then the tent hit it. The roof rack came off half way. A few deep gashes ad a lot of scratches on the roof. We dropped the tyre pressure and with some assistance to keep the rack inline while reversing, got the car back out again. At least I got an excuse to take the afternoon off to help my wife!

EINA!!!
Been in that same position before, even without my roof tent on top. The rear of Chuck's roof rack has an additional attachment on top that caught a sewerage pipe at the office. Luckily we got off cheap - roof rack was fine and the pipe whad a slight bend and some superficial scratches. Maar ons was ampertjies in die k@k!
PS: Save up for a Fredlin hoist - they're worth every cent

Re: Low arch, high vehicle, Eish!
When I still had my Cruiser it was fitted with the whole OME 50 mm lift, roof rack and a spare wheel on the roof. SWAMBO forgot that it was parked under the carport and decided the garage was the spot for the Cruiser. Got a verrrrrry agitated phone call telling me the Cruiser was in the garage but that the roof rack, part of the paintjob, spare wheel, brackets and the rest was now parked in the driveway.

All is long time already forgiven!
Tomorrow we are passing by a panel beater from Krugersdorp who fixed something else for me on another car not so long ago.
You can get good value on that side of town.
