Hi Everyone, please see below for event taking place this Sunday See below extract from a mail I received.
If interested contact Judy 0861 596 9494 / 082 899 2426 or email judy@lynx4x4.co.za.
Lynx 4x4 is facing a unique challenge with the illness of the child of two of our employees, which most of you have probably met or dealt with, Chris du Preez (Sales & Fitment Centre Manager) and Ronel (Switch board / Admin)
Joshua, their oldest son, (6 years old) a highly intelligent young boy, had a major setback on the 10th of January 2012. He had a “stroke” – this has been a shocking experience for all of us – to say the least. He was admitted to the Medicross in Vereening on the 10th for observation and after consultation by a doctor he was transferred to a specialist at the Unitas Hospital in Pretoria where various tests were done. It has been confirmed that it was a stroke, furthermore they have picked up scars on the brain from 3 previous strokes. Other specialised tests are currently being done.
Joshua was discharged from hospital on Sunday the 15th. This has been an extreme setback for the family - emotionally and financially. Joshua missed out on one of the most exiting milestones in his life – his first day of “Big school”. He has brand new school clothes, a suitcase and stationary, but cannot attend school. He is now facing some basic motor and sensory skill challenges, those basic things in life that we so take for granted like holding a pencil, writing and drawing, eating with a spoon, counting, speaking and expressing himself. He also lost control of his bladder.
Joshua would need the following in the short and long term:
→ Occupational and Speech therapy
→ Physio therapy to strengthen his right hand side
→ Possibly neurophysiotherapy depending on the damage
→ Special need education (short term)
→ Preventative medicine
Joshua has a good chance of recovery as he is showing progress. Well, our tears, anger and shock, is being channelled into helping Joshua and his family. (He has 2 siblings of 18 months). Lynx 4x4 is to host a fundraising 4x4 family day to raise as much funds as possible to contribute towards his rehabilitation and develop his full potential. The event will be held on Sunday, 4 March 2012 at Vossies, a private 4x4 venue, some 25km southwest of Parys in the Free State.
Vossies is a private venue on the banks of the Vaal river that can only be visited on appointment. The farm offers a variety of 4x4 challenges, including sand, water, mud and of course a few challenging mountain routes. All participants will report to the Sasol garage in the main street of Parys at 08H00, from where a guide will accompany the convoy to the farm. For those who would like to camp for the weekend, facilities are available – please contact Judy, should you wish to make a weekend outing.
We intend raising funds in the following way:
1) We invite you and your family and lots of friends to join us for a fun-filled day.
Entrance fee per 4x4 vehicle - R500.00
Additional vehicle - R50.00 (non 4x4 vehicles)
2) Lynx 4x4 will be auctioning some accessories BUT if you have items that we can raffle / auction it would be greatly appreciated.
3) Drinks Wheel Barrow
Everyone sponsors a drink (cold drink, sider, “harde hout” of his choice) and place it in a wheel barrow and R50 raffle is sold whereby one lucky person can win the lot.
4) There will be activities for children
5) Cash bar
6) Pictures will be taken on the day and will be offered at a nominal fee.
7) Any other idea that you want to suggest is welcomed. Full and final details about the activities of the day to follow.
8) We are going to have 2 possibly 3 extreme 4x4 challenge vehicles available for rides at very challenging obstacles to offer you the opportunity to have a once in a lifetime experience.
A special trust / club account will be opened where money can be paid into.

Hi Grant
Yes there are:
Lynx Special Need Outreach
FNB Cheque Account
Acc: 62347129141
Branch: 250 137
It was a lovely day with temperatures up to 35 degrees. The highlight of the day however was when a PATROL came out of the bushes with a Prado on a trailer (Broken Sideshaft) and then another Prado and a Land Cruiser bakkie overheated. And then I had to recover another Prado that could,nt make it up the sand banks. Not a good day for Toyota.
