OEM Steering damper rubbers & washers

Post by Tony »

I am in the process of replacing a defective TJM steering damper (15 months old) with an OEM unit, however, after purchasing the damper, I've discovered that the washers, rubbers and metal sleeve that were fitted to the TJM unit have a smaller ID than the Nissan part, so I am looking for the 4 metal washers, the 4 rubbers as well as the metal sleeve that the rubbers fit over before bolting on for the original Nissan steering damper. Anyone got???

I don't have what you are looking or but am curious as to what went wrong with the TJM damper. I have one on my "bucket list".

Aftermarket units look so much cooler! Nothing wrong with TJM per se, however my damper lasted 16 months and 12000km's of very average driving and has packed up.
After being advised by a couple of guys I fitted the OEM (ugly looking) unit back in - and the wobble seems to be gone, I must still drive a little more to be 100% convinced though.

TJM should replace under warranty. Also, should you go back to original, i would assume they should supply you with its own washers and rubbers anyway, why was this not the case?

They have all the bits, but when you purchase the shock, that's what you get - nothing else - you then have to purchase the rest of the parts separately (at an exhorbitant cost, I might add). So if you go through a similar exercise, keep all the bits - they just might save you a good couple of bucks!!
