Hi to all, I did a trip up the pass last week.
As we neared Himeville,the clouds started to roll in.
Half way up the pass, the the weather really turned foul, and by the time we summited to the top, visibility were down to approx 20m.
The temperature dropped to 6 deg, a big shock for us Zululanders.
I didn,t drive any further into Lesotho as planned because the cold front were there to stay. It was misty and rainy for the following three days.
But at the Sani top lodge , I encountered this 3 Patrols , we were only 4 vehicles up there. A Landie and 3 Patrols frob Thabo safari's. Its the most GQ Patrols I have ever seen together.
The pass is in the worst state ever I have driven it, they had a lot of flood damage, and a lot of rocks lying in the road.
The new tar road is also nearing completion to just passed the Sani pass hotel at the bottom.Apparently its a rumour that the pass will be tarred, only the road from Himeville to the site of the old hotel will be tarred.

Koos I had a chat with the owner of Thabo Tours when I was there in December. Apparently he has eight GQ's and doesn't even want to think about using anything else.
He maintains that they are still the most comfortable vehicles to take Sani pass in. (I am ussuming that is mostly fairly well loaded with passengers).

I do hope that they never tar that pass, although it is surely just a matter of time

Koos, die kiekies is daar maar ek sien niks. Ek dink dis net mis...ha...ha...

Dis nie die eerste April nie?????? want tensy julle iets verander het sien ek die "kiekies" baie duidelik, mis het seker opgeklaar

Ja nee manne - ek dink julle rekenar skrms is op gewasem - want ek sien die fotos so duielik soos daglig!!

Al 8 daai patrols was daar in Des toe ek op Sani Pass was - manne dit was n gesig om te aanskou. Saam met myne toe ons die dag daar was dink ek daar het iets soos 11 of 12 Patrols daar gestaan - dis jammer ek kon nie almal bymekaar kry vir n groep foto nie.
