Patrol Tough Dog RTC Steering Damper - NO LONGER FOR SALE
I bought this steering damper from Aus and turns out it is the wrong one for my 4.8 GRX 2004 (old shape) so has not been used. I require the pin / pin steering damper. If this model SS5617 P/S fits your Patrol then it's yours for R1000. Replacement new part with shipping is around R2000.
PM or contact me on 0845244373. Anthony.

Re: Patrol Tough Dog RTC Steering Damper
Looks like an older model RTC that is for a 2005 upwards model (if that makes sense) ..... but i may also be mistaken.
Isn;t there meant to be a spring retainer at the "eye" end?

Re: Patrol Tough Dog RTC Steering Damper
Hey Russ, yup spring retainer not in pic.
I have only come across one Patrol with that eye to pin setup, most Patrol's all the way up to 08'ish is pin to pin.
BUT, nothing a custom bracket can't sort out.

Re: Patrol Tough Dog RTC Steering Damper
I am slightly confused as to what model Patrol this will fit. I have the 2003 30TD and me thinks my stearing dampner is not what it should be.
Advice please?

Re: Patrol Tough Dog RTC Steering Damper
Izak, you can inspect your steering damper. if it uses a pin to pin damper, i.e. the nuts holding the damper to the suspension is in line with the damper's rod/center line then it won't fit. If however your one side of the damper's nut is perpendicular to the damper it will most likely fit (the one end will then look like the bottom-ends of your rear shocks) .

Re: Patrol Tough Dog RTC Steering Damper - NO LONGER FOR SALE
In a nutshell yes, improvements on ride feeling etc. if any will remain to be seen. I have fitted 275 Bfg muds and so to me makes sense to slightly compensate for running the bigger tyres - I only use my vehicle for trails and overland mostly. I am sure as with anything there are going to be 1000 different opinions out there but for me I see it as an improvement to the standard damper considering the larger than standard tyres I have put on.
