The standard GU springs and gabriel suspension I fitted the other day have made a huge improvement to the ride, handling and articulation. The GU springs provide a 1.5 to 2 inch lift over the standard GQ springs and keep the rear cardan joints happy. The front shocks are range rover classic spec and have an extended length of 730mm, just enough to keep the front left spring from jumping out. The rear shocks are toyota dyna truck spec and have an extended length of 810mm (if I rember correctly). I phoned the technical guy at gabriel and he helped match the lengths I was looking for with what the manufacture with the same connection details. I'm really impressed with the final result and I doubt they ride would be any better with some of the exotic imported brands. Before the upgrade the speed bumps had to be negotiated at around 20kmph to stop my head from hitting the roof. Bump steer was also horrible. I can now negotiate these bumps at around 70kmph and you hardly know they are there!

Ja nou kan mens sien hoekom die PATROL so goed is die suspensie doen die werk
en nie die onderstel soos in 'n IFS voertyg nie. Die twee wys ons net hier by dieselfde plek.

Yip RHD. Proving to be a real pain in the ass to get it registered in South Africa. The Canadian couple who brought it over from Botswana never completed the Natis registration before trading it in on a X5 . Too nice a vehicle to hand back to the garage where I bought it though. Guess I will continue riding with temporary plates and have a lot of patience. Anybody know of any corrupt officials working for the licensing department?
