Re: Browne Davis Long Range Fuel Tanks

Just out of interest, I was at Northern Off-Road in Strijdom Park yesterday. Northern Off-Road made their name doing Long Range/Auxiliary fuel tanks. I mentioned that Brown-Davis were now in SA. The son said he had never heard of Brown-Davis. The PA started doing a google search and confirmed I was...

Re: Browne Davis Long Range Fuel Tanks

@Kirbster I have also fitted the BrowneDavis lager Aux tank and followed the instructions regarding extending the float arm by 50mm. My aux fuel guage also does not reflect what is in the tank. Filled it the first time with 40Lt but the guage only showed just over I/4. Transfer of fuel also continu...

Re: Upgrade to 3" lift on series 4 GU 4.8 Station Wagon. What do I need?

Last week I received the final piece of the suspension puzzle and fitment is planned for the 16th March 2021. I received my drop boxes from Piet Connan for R3500 and they are an excellent piece of kit. So in summary this is what I am going to have fitted to the vehicle: - 2" lift kit from Terrain Ta...

Re: Fender Flares

I spoke to Jacques from Kut Snake now to get an update on the flares. In summary COVID has slowed down the outbound leg from Australia and the container was only loaded on the 19th February (almost a month later than planned) and it will take approximately 4 weeks to arrive in SA and then clear cust...

Re: Upgrade to 3" lift on series 4 GU 4.8 Station Wagon. What do I need?

I need to correct an earlier statement now that I have double checked with Terrain Tamer...I do not have variable rate coils for the front of the Troll, I have linear rate coils. TT doesn't yet supply variable rate coils for the Troll (of my weight?). Feedback from TT "We do a 300-500 kg progressive...

Re: Upgrade to 3" lift on series 4 GU 4.8 Station Wagon. What do I need?

I don't know if this comes too late but: Keep in mind that for a suspension to be capable of good flex, it must be relatively soft. A relatively soft suspension will obviously sag under load. Furthermore rising-rate springs will sag more under load than constant-rate springs. Personally I would hav...

Re: Upgrade to 3" lift on series 4 GU 4.8 Station Wagon. What do I need?

So here is an update to my investigations into replacing my suspension: - I have measured my current lift using the centre of the hub and the bottom of wheel arch fender flare as reference. When I compared my measurement to that of a stock GU GRX I confirmed that I have a 2" lift back and front. I a...

Re: Fender Flares

An update via Tinus who spoke to the SA Kut Snake supplier -> ETA of the container is approx 1 month away. Slow delivery due to global impact of COVID.

Re: Upgrade to 3" lift on series 4 GU 4.8 Station Wagon. What do I need?

So I had a good meeting with Franz Fourie last week to discuss my plans to go for a 3" lift. We discussed my options at length and the message is becoming clearer that going for a 3" lift over a 2" lift is going to add more complexity and cost than it is worth, because all of the "off the shelf opti...
