Re: Auto lock on doors

1) The first and most important is not the remote battery, but the vehicle battery. I've had a few occasions where the vehicle battery (mind you. not on my Patrol, surely they do not fail...) had died and necessitated the key to open the car. So removing the linkages would not have been a great idea...

Re: Back in the market

A new member posted an ad for a 4.5 for R95k.

I wonder if a member of this forum knows this Patrol.

Re: Nissan Patrol TB45 4.5 Litre GRX4X4 1998 Manual for sale

Apparently R95k according to the ads I could find. https://www.automart.co.za/cars/nissan-patrol-4-8-grx-adventurer-60-1998-id-5104841 https://www.junkmail.co.za/cars/nissan/gauteng/pretoria/pretoria-east/1998-nissan-patrol-4-8-grx/9c4a1d1484754a3bb3cb8cfc53ade90e Odd that it is shown as a 4.8 Adven...

Re: Any experience with these radios

It would be handy to have a radio guy on the forum, but I think most people just don't have the time to be the guy. I've confirmed from Dirk on the 4x4 Community forum that the CTCSS tones used on the three frequencies are not prescribed by ICASA, merely suggested, so we could always pick one of the...

Re: Any experience with these radios

Compared to the more expensive Zarteks (larger with bigger antennas) the com8 doesn't have the greatest range, but it talks to my dual band VHF / UHF handheld radio. If the forum prefers UHF, which license free channel and CTCSS code is usually used? We have 8 + 5 channels, and something like 38 ctc...

Re: Vehicle mobile comms, what do you use?

I have VHF and UHF handheld with magnet mount on the Patrol. And a spare hand held for anyone travelling with me. Never considered the 10m band as it seems there are too few people using it.

I also have my ham radio license, but I have never had use for it for convoy / 4x4 comms.

Re: Off road replacement bumpers and rock sliders.

Looks great Paul, it looks like the rear tyre is on a swing bracket now? What do these cost? Ernest, I got a great deal from David Marais for his bumper second hand. I have the swing arm for the tyre and another one in the store room for the left hand side that holds 60l of fuel. It has space for a...
