There are non-turbo charged (TD42), turbo charged (TD42T) as well as turbo charged/intercooled (TD42Ti) versions of the 4.2 Nissan diesel.

In Aussie, the engine performance specs were:

TD42: 91 kW @ 4000 rpm, 272 Nm @ 2000 rpm
TD42T: 114 kw @ 3600 rpm, 330 Nm @ 2000 rpm
TD42Ti: 114 kw @ 3600 rpm, 360 Nm @ 2000 rpm

Those ratings are all quite conservative and are probably part of the reason why these motors have such legendary durability. They are all indirect injection motors and run at a compression ratio of 22.7:1.

What is a little pit puzzling to me is that the local Patrol pick-up has a TD42Ti motor, which is only rated at 90 kW @ 3600 rpm and 282 nm @ 2000 rpm! Effectively this is merely an altitude compensator installation, so why the intercooler? At any rate, it might be quite simple to increase the power/torque output of that motor (safely) to 114 kW/360 Nm.

The difference between the zd30 and td 42 scoops are , the zd 30 sits more to the left while the td 42's are right in the centre..The UN vehicles are td 42 's the scoop are all dead centre, saw some in Moz , all brand new ST spec , very basic, but nice .
The vehicle on the pic is a zd30 according to the scoop
