Fragment of a second before thrust advances

Hello!

I have a little issue: my TB45 with electronic injection but distributor needs a fragment of a second before it accelerates when I push down the throttle fully and immediately.
Actually it even feels like the car ‚brakes‘ juuuust slightly for that mentioned fragment and then the thrust comes on as you would expect.

I had the feeling that after replacing the distributor cap that behaviour was gone for a short time but definitely not for long.

Is this normal, do I have to worry?
Otherwise the car runs great. Just after being standing around for about 10 weeks the first start respectively idle thereafter is a tad rough but I think that is normal.
The second (even cold) start after the long break always is normal again.

How often would you replace the distributor cap? And the rotating finger in it?
Thanks for your advice!

I think Peter Conan will have some good advice to offer when he pops in here.

This sounds more like fuel supply than spark to me.
However, that it went away for a while after replacing the distributor cap indicates the opposite.

I would say first step would be to take the cap off and see if there is any indication of sparking or undue wear on the contacts, and also how big the gap is to the rotor (you can do that by putting a blob of putty in the cap and re-fitting it).

I would also just check all the high-tension leads.

But I still think the problem is fuel. Pump or MAF perhaps?

If it were me, I would phone Ant or Thys.

To add to Peter's comment, also check the fuel filter.

I used to have a hesitation with my 4.8 - when I needed to get off the line quickly it would bog for a second. Terrifying when you are trying to take a gap across a robot or something.
Anyway, I replaced the fuel filter and the issue disappeared.

Thanks guys, I will check for these items.
The fuel filter was replaced less than 20000km ago (probably even less than 10k), but I will just check.

It'll take a bit but I will give an update when I had a look.

With the dirty feul just change every 10000 at least or carry a spare in the car
