Hello - another Patrol seeking newbie.

Post by JasonRSA »

Good morning all

Currently have a Patrol sized itch I need to scratch. the 4x4forum guys directed me here.
Have been checking out the usual car sites. Budget about 150 - if I can sell/trade my TJ.

Any thoughts on these two?

Welcome to the forum.

The one page gives a 404 (ie: page not found). The other white 4.5 does not give a heck of a lot of detail in terms of mileage and similar. From the photos one can see it is a manual transmission, but that is about all.

I'd suggest getting hold of Tinus Lotz (link to his profile is over here: https://patrol4x4.co.za/memberlist.php? ... file&u=516). He normally has a chunk of vehicles available. I think he actually knows of virtually every Patrol for sale in ZA... :rolling: :rolling:

Not to worry though - your Patrol will find you. :)

The second one looks in amazing condition. But it is Brits Nissan, and the owner has a soft spot for Patrols

Yo ! Combine year model, mileage, and being 4.5 (vs 4.8 or diesel) those prices are pushing the limits for what they are, respectively. In my frugal (cheapskate) opinion. But I suppose it is 2022 and I must adapt :oldtimer:

The 4.5 Patrol auto is heavier on fuel than a 4.8 Patrol auto , rather get the 4.5 Manual

Welcome Jason.
With regard to the 4.5 auto: the gearbox on those is quite an old-tech 4-speed design, and it is an extremely polarising experience. Some love it, most hate it. Definitely drive before you buy, and as extensively as you possibly can.

Here's a 4.8 - price way too high I think.

Also 300,000 kms

That is a pre-facelift 4.8. I think it is over-priced. Please get hold of Tinus via PM (the link to his profile I posted in the second post on his thread). Alternatively, I'll PM his number to you. Chat with him - I'm pretty sure he will have something available.
