Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Hi Patrolers,

I have noticed that there are water in the passenger side of the patrol. I guess it is the aircon moisture channel, that is either blocked, leaking or puled out of the fire wall.

Where must I look for this channel/pipe?

Any advice would be appreciated.

The aircon condensor normally drips outside the truck - on the passenger side, both front and back. ie: There should not be water leaking inside the truck.

Not to be an alarmist: but check your coolant levels and heater hoses. The heating system uses the warm coolant from the engine and this runs via the heater matrix which is in the passenger footwell behind the cubby-hole. Normally when water is leaking in this specific location, it is the heater matrix, or one of the heater hoses.

One can not get after market heater hoses (unless Terrain Parts have also started manufacturing these) and you will need to order these from the agents.

As a temporary measure should you need to wait for stock (I doubt you're using the heater in this weather), you can bridge out the heater matrix. ie: Connect the two pipes that run into the firewall together to bypass the matrix completely.

As with all things coolant-based, make sure you bleed the system properly if you do any work on the coolant system.

Easy way to test: after a longish drive, feel whether the wet area is hot or cold.

Air con moisure would be ambient, while heater water would be hot. In our cars, water is always circulating through the heater matrix, so you don't need to turn the heatder on for the test.

Thanks guys will check behind the cubby-hole if I can see anything. I'll aslo check the coolant levels, but no alarms from the madman yet.....

Check the small black drip line/spout on the fire-wall in the engine bay (passenger side), over time the spout sometimes moves or retracts , and all condensation/dripping water then runs down into the footwell (on passenger side).

Make yourself a small hose extension using a piece of either clear silicone or even garden hose, and use a small pipe clamp to fasten it to the original one.

This happened on both my patrols. Problem gone.

Are you sure it's the Aircon? if you recently replaced your windscreen or removed the panel below the windscreen then it might be the plastic pegs that holds the panel down. the left (passenger side) 3 or so clips enter the cabin and a notorious leak spot when a windscreen was replaced.

Nope can not be the windscreen, no rain in the Cape since I noticed the water. But I'm not discarding the advice.

What did you find so far ?
