on my bakkie iam boosting 1 bar max and using a old safari turbo with a 11mm pump. when i drive normal my temps are great and we tend to go forward at a more that acceptable rate .
On my stasion wagon ex 4.8 now 4.2Td we boost 1.5bar with a max out 11mm and go forward at abit more of a acceptable rate .
But when i hook a trailer and my egt go to 500 up a hill my oil get to 100 deg it becomes a mission to get it below 100 again and it starts to heat my water also
yes i know i control my temps with my foot and madman tells me ect ect but IMHO the little water to oil cooler is just to small and doesn't work well .
also we give more feul we need to cool more .
dont get me wrong i pulled a 1.5 ton trailer and 6 people to moz December no problem towing at 120km/h up and down hill with water temps sitting at max 85Deg ....but when you hit schoemanskloof at 34 deg outside and you have a loaded car ... .the oil gets hot and then it makes my water go to 97 to 100 ged i need to lift my foot of rhe diesel.....i dont want to do that

Piet is running one sandwich adapter i think . so please iam i the process of fitting coolers to both my Td42t and want to do it correctly and with everyone imput so we can get a plan that works properly to everyone benefit.
going to use braided hydronic hose with crimped fittings. dont want it to be a downgrade on reliability and it must give everyone the plan forward

my 3rd patrol is on its way from the Cape and will be delivered probably tomorrow so the oil cooler must be fitted to this project once the new Td42t motor goes in place
please put picks and your ideas and findings on this tread and lets see what can be done to sort it in the long run

on both my bumpers i allowed for airflow under headlights so that coolers can be fitted away from aircon and radiator to not give more heat to water .On my suv i dropped my front intercooler way down below the winch plate so that the heat doesn't bug the radiator .

Here you can clearly see how low the cooler for the air is sitting and that it is under the radiator . I also took the bottom crosmember form a 2010 td42 Na suv and changed my radiator to a nissan original core with allu tanks top and bottom that is the wider tipe like the 30l and 4.2 na and 4.5 uses . this allows intercooler heat to go below the car radiator and not make it hotter
