Hi There Guys

Just checking in to see if there are any pitfalls I need to know about when removing my bakkie tub? I want it off to build a flat tray\bed. Any advise will be appreciated.

The only hassle I've had while removing a bak was the fuel hoses are usually difficult to get loose. Cramped space to work, and stuck onto the steel pipes due to age.
And then you need to mcguver a way to seal the fuel hose for the duration of your project because your fuel cap is on the bak. Everything else is pretty straightforward

Just remove the filler mounting plate from the tub. Three little screws each. Then the pipes remain in place and the filler caps, breathers etc. too.

By the way, Dave Marais and I are busy doing a tub for his bakkie. All the construction is done, we are just waiting for the painters to finish. It took nearly 2 months for the Raptor paint to arrive due to Covid and stuff.

This is a somewhat modular setup, and in Dave's case he gets wooden floors and sides, clip-off drop-sides and a special doggy-door in the rear panel which opens by swinging over, so that it is still accessible in tight parking spaces.
He also gets a forward bin on the passenger side and a rear drawer, both of which are nearly-waterproof, and a spare wheel carrier behind the cab. The spare wheel carrier can handle anything from 31" to 35" tires (it adjusts up and down so one doesn't need to lift the wheel to get it there), and two could be mounted side by side if one wanted double spare wheels.

Extra boxes can be added, and there are side-rails for tying things on, as well as hooking points under the floor. The head-board is solid plate where the bodywork is and expanded mesh where the window is.

For 11 year, since i purchased my Patrol pickup, ive dreamt of changing it to a tray-back, with a separate canopy.
