The previous, more boxy shape Patrol has the Nissan model code Y60 (the current one is Y61). The Y60 is also known as the GQ in Australia, where they seem to assign their own codes to vehicles (the current one is known as the GU).
The Y60 was built from around 1987 and was replaced by the Y61 in late 1997, although the older model soldiered on for the military market in the East.
The Y60s that were imported to SA by Nissan SA all have either 4.2 carb fed petrol motors (engine code TB42, 125 kW @ 4200 rpm, 325 Nm @ 2800 rpm) or 4.2 naturally aspirated diesels (engine code TD42, 85 kW @ 4000 rpm, 264 Nm @ 2000 rpm).
