Squeaking tyres
The Green Mamba is fitted with BF Goodrich All-Terrain 265/75/16, profile still looking pretty decent. On the last few trips, esp. after the temperatures are not arctic any longer, I noticed quite some squeaking noise on relatively sharp turns. Since neither my driving nor the 4.2D GL are not known for sporty demeanour, I suspect the tyres. I used to have a similar issue with the Yokohama Geolander on the Subaru and was told it’s caused by the rubber mixture.
Or could there be another reason for this?

Re: Squeaking tyres
What surface do you notice the squeaking on? Concrete, tar, dirt....?
Cheers, Gareth

Re: Squeaking tyres
Sorry Tinus, what do you mean by bump stops?
Steele, it is on normal tar, esp. on these little round abouts, tight turns in slow speed.

Re: Squeaking tyres
My BFG KO2s squeak on some smooth concrete surfaces such as in underground car parks especially on tight turns if the ambient temp is high. They dont make any noise on normal tar though unless the road surface is old and has been worn very smooth, there is one road here that makes them squeak even under braking...
When in doubt throttle out !

Re: Squeaking tyres
Thanks Craig, it's reassuring to know it is caused by the tyres and doesn't indicate anything else.
Also, my wife informed me that the more appropriate term to use is "squealing" not squeaking. Sorry, for that. It appears I'm not a native speaker, yet.

Re: Squeaking tyres
Its wierd, its almost as if it happens at the change of the seasons, maybe just the right road temperature, and dust layer, I dunno, but yes, just in the past two or three weeks both of mine are squeaking at some roundabouts and corners, the one has bfgs, and the other a mix match of variuos brands.
