4.2 Project

Post by dapper »

Will you be able to fit 35' tyres on the 4.2 models, what are the cons of these vehicles, what about performance and how much should you pay for them.

Yes,with a suspetion lift it will fit.the performsnce will be worse than normal. You will pay about R3000 per tyre, for a proper one.

Personally ,

If i was going to fit 35's to my 4.2 i'd change the Diff ratio's. and, naturally, suspension lift for clearance. If its the 4.2D you got, like mine, then i doubt weather the thing will even move with 35's on it. :mytwocents:

haha, negative , im a normally aspirated 4.2 , no turbos for me again. Should be way easier to turn those 35's with that extra bit of forced induction. Re your actual question - If you can fit them on 4.5 and 4.8 , then there's no reason you cant fir them on a 4.2. (yours is a wagon right ? not the pickup like mine?)

I still have to buy a vehicle, that is why i am asking,i do have a set of 35 tyres but should i rather sell them or will the patrol survive with them,i do own a immaculate 1963 g60 with 27 000 miles, everythig still original, will fill in that new member questionnaire if i can move it to where it must be.

Yes Russ,I have a wagon, and thinking of 35' with my next tire change.I have to think of that because 35' are to big for road use,I am not allways in the bush. Why not turbo again?

Dapper, 35's look right on a Patrol and they will work good with the heavy car.If you own a 4.2 non turbo the car will suffer even with 33's.O welcome to the forum, and show us some Pics.

I must concur with the advice...

My vehicle runs on 33" MTs and has a turbo. I can only imagine how tedious the going would be without a turbo to help things along!

For a mixed use vehicle I won't go over 33'"...
