So my reason for joining. In the next few years I will look into buying an SUV. Previously, still mostly am a very religious Landy nut. Looking at the company, the new owners, planned models etc I cant help having doubts. there is even talk of all independant suspention in a Defender :surprised: . My next vehicle will be a purchase for the next 15 years, and being a purist/crazy I would like to have that SFA SRA, Low range and Diff lock.

Was looking at the Cruiser 70series. I dont really like Toyota. Not the vehicles, they are good. But looking in the secondhand market, I cant justify forking out R120k extra for the name. Sure If I could afford new that is more logical, but then we are talking of a half million rand DONKEY. Not interested in speed, just cant see why pay that $$$ for a very :oldtimer: engine. Why?

So then it came under my attention Patrol has what I am looking for in a 4x4, and secondhand it is more affordable :woo:

Diesel fan, very used to turbo lag, smoke and all the noise, so then looking at the 3.0 Td engine. Also firm believer in preventative mainenance, does not bother me, will read up on that.

My questions is what does all the GL GX SD FX stand for. Assume it is for luxury level. Please explain the body configurations.

Other questions I'll ask/search as we go along.

Thanks Guys

Hello OB and welcome!

Spot on!
My questions is what does all the GL GX SD FX stand for
Complex answer, because is depend on the model (when produced) - different engines, diff lux specs, auto/manual.

For newer vehicles look here (Y61s) - summary below: http://www.nissan.co.za/en/web/models/P ... 253228.htm
For older vehicles, here is an excellent summary by Gerrit: http://patrol4x4.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=238
