Kumho MT51 - Black friday special

I got a list of tyres that Lombard Tyres (Kumho Agents) were putting out there for Black Friday, and was saddened by the fact that there was no 285/75 R16 tyres on special. So, I jumped onto the emails and sent them a letter asking why as I want a set of 4 of the new style MT51 muddies for the iron Maiden. And these tyres are NOT one directional !!!!

I was pleasantly surprised by there reply offering me in the spirit of Black Friday a special price.

This is way better than what I could get from them a few months back when i asked for a quote.

Here is what they sent me ( with permission from Lombard Tyres Head Office )

Well I know what I'm going to be doing in the next few days......

From the reviews I have read, and read on the Aussie forum they seem to be damn good.

Here is another review

I like this comment from the link above.....
The Kumho MT51s might not be the most exciting tyre on the market, but tyres are something you want dependable reliability from, not a bunch of marketing gimmicks

Bargain!!

Thats R 3145 per tyre.

I was quoted R 4050/tyre on Coopers last week.

You think a letter from me might also work.............if I ask nicely?? :inlove:

I can supply 285/75/16 MT Landvigator (same as PowerRover ) for R2390.00 inc vat each. Will be bringing a set of 4 to Rust de Winter plus 1of 35*12.5*15 MT (EJ's tyre) and a couple of road tyres for display.
This is my standard price to the Patrol guy's.

Cedric, you need 5 tyres, that spare of yours has a grey beard already and is no longer any good, even as a spare! A person of your financial capability should enjoy the fruit of your labours...

Buy 5 and every 10k km do a 5 tyre rotation to ensure you utilise all 5 tyres and you always have a "fresh" spare.

It will also mean your spare will be a closer size match, if rotated in sync with the tyres on the road

Malcolm, Yeah I was thinking about that too, and realized I may have made a mistake ordering only 4, but .... kids school fees are the same as 5 sets of 4 tyres, so I might have to just settle for the 4 at the moment......

Thinus, yeah you know me. I have always been a Kumho fan. Please understand that I am not knocking anybodies business, I know Charlie ( Martyn ) for many many years, and have no issue with any other brand tyre. This is simply the tyre that I have wanted to try for a long time, and have been following the reviews for a long time too.

My reasoning is why pay nearly R5000 for a Good Year tyre that Looks absolutely wicked yet has on numerous occasions proven itself to not be that good/reliable on a good few Patrols. The Coopers are also amazing looking tyres, but one hears stories about those too, Thinus you were an avid BF tyre supporter, so like you say, each to there own desires.... haha.

I think brand names can sometimes not always be the best brands, Kumho is a well known brand name in various areas of motor sport, and for the private guy on the street, I feel this is a good tyre with a fair price tag. Will give those tyres a good run for their money, as I don't really mess around when I drive the Maiden.

So in a nutshell.... one must buy whatever one feels like buying, I just put it out there....

Petri, when I asked them if i can Show this on the Patrol Forum, they said with pleasure, so send them an e-mail ( info @ lombardtyres .com ) and mention that you got the email address from Cedric from the Patrol4x4 forum. I believe they will send you a proforma invoice with the same deal.

I'm back in Gauteng fort three weeks getting the Sani ready for it's next life phase as my work truck down on the West Coast. One of the things I am short of, is a spare tyre for the trip down. If anybody has a 33 or 35 x 12.5x15 old tyre laying around they are willing to donate/get rid off, please let me know. Once I am down there, I will have to earn some moola to get some serious sand tyres fitted. The terrain and site is just sand, sand and sand, even our tractors and JCB is getting stuck.

I have a BF 33 for you David.

Lots of thread left, but it is quite old in years and has a plugged sidewall puncture. However it has been lying under my workbench all the time, is mounted on a pro-white wheel and has been holding pressure for probably 7 years.

Rim can be included.
