Recommended diagnosis sparky in Cape Town??

Post by Spike »

I need a recommended Cape Town auto electric diagnostic guy who knows patrols and who can mcguyver rather than just replace everything. Any recommendations please? :helpsign:
Preferably west coast rather than boereworsgordyn but not too fussy about that

Primary concern is the dreaded airbag light that won't re-set (B1014, B1001, B1012, B1132) B1132 says "side module LH (short)" and I don't know where that is located
It needs to be fixed or smokkeled long enough to get me through roadworthy.
I considered connecting the dash light to the ignition light so that it comes on and goes out when starting  , but that's a mission I'd prefer to avoid if possible.

If he's having fun then secondary concerns are:
Central locking fix, new keys/remotes,
Climate stuck on cold air
Front seat adjustment switches faulty

I spoke to Frans a week ago and he said he wasn't the guy to fix my electronic issues. Got him lined up for some mechanical work though

To smokkel it is easy enough. Before I redid the wiring for the passenger SRS I bridged the airbag plug with small resistor under the seat. The resistor legs conveniently sit snugly in the plug. I can't remember the exact resistance required but it is out on the Interwebs somewhere. Too high and it sees an open circuit, or no airbag. Too low and it complains about a short. Once it is bridged the controller thinks the airbag is there. Best is to get it fixed of course. I did it to stop the annoying airbag warning light, but eventually my OCD forced me to fix the clock spring (steering wheel airbag warning, and cruise control) and passenger SRS properly.
