Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

I have been a member for quite some time, always keeping an eye on interesting topics etc, since I still dream of owning my own Patrol one day. I had a close "encounter" with a 1995 4.5, but in the end, I had to walk away...

Any case, I am sending this post on my father's behalf, since he has come to see the light and is looking to trade his 2013 Torturer :) for a Patrollie!

He is in the market for a diesel with low km's. I subsequently spotted these two in the CPT area and had a look at the 2015 model yesterday.

My understanding is that the 2013 have the di engine and the 2015 the crd? Price aside, of the two, it seems that the crd is the more reputable engine, hence, the 2015 will be the better option between the two? Please let me know what your thoughts are considering my statement above and feel free to provide any 2 cents on the ads below. Good or bad . . .

Sadly my knowledge of the 3.0 diesel is VERY limited, but they both look like damn nice Patrols. If it were me, I would get in contact with Frans Fourie ( tour de Frans ) and ask him if he can have a look and give his opinion. Sadly even he will not be able to give you an absolute accurate opinion on the internals of the motor, but I do trust his knowledge 100%.

As far as I know one had to take a pic of the motor to establish exactly which ZD motor it is.

Adverts state 2012 and 2015 models. The photos show different motors - the 2015 is the new motor. I vote 2015.

I actually had a look at the 2012 Di Patrol at WEBUYCARS and its front left swivel hub of the axle had a lot of corrosion on it, I am not sure if this can be repaired?


I personally was not impressed with the vehicle but it may be worth a look with a good mechanic to give it a proper once over.

i traded my in at patrol at Nissan milnerton is a 2016 crd it had just under 100 k on
it has the free flow exaust and bullbar
i think it is still there

i traded it in for 360 k if i remember it has the nav system

i still have the original front bumper and and the original exhaust and tow bar taking up space in my garage ,i will exchange them for 24 flying fish chill
it has 285/75/16 Dunlop on it. only done 30 k on them
