Cooling system: vertical pipe in expansion case
Posted: 07 Jan 2019 13:14
Good afternoon!
I recently had to refill my cooling system twice without any sign of spillage. Also the exhaust gases don't have a white color.
When I had to refill for the second time I had a look at the expansion case just to realize that it is full, quite above max.
After checking the part catalogues I found out that the pipe which goes down vertical into the case is missing - that afaic is the reason why the fluid level in the cooler is decreasing but not increasing again - how would the water go back without that pipe...
I asked the dealer, that small pipe costs about 450 ZAR which is a bit ridiculous.
So my question is: can anybody unscrew the cap of his TB45E expansion case and measure the pipe for me? I'll then get one from the building supply, that should be good enough, isn't it?
Or might that give me a problem due to the temperature of the water?
The original part number is 2171201J01, if someone has one in stock without any use for it.
Best regards,
Florian
