My

I have had both the 4.5 manual and now the Auto, must say I can not feel much difference (Ok I have SAC header and exhorst on the auto which may make a difference) and I am running 285's on that auto which effects acceleration on pull off. Off road having driven different lots of makes and models, I would say auto is better on rock and off road trails, but manual is better on sand and mud. On the open road and up long hills if you leave the box in D yes the auto(with overdrive engaded) is up and down through the gears, but there again I was up and down through my box in the manual
I am an auto fan and always will be, I just find it a much easier and relaxing drive, even to the extent that I was speaking to JP yesterday of maybe changing my 4.2 tdi to an auto box.
Tank capacity is the same in both 125L

Louis, i guess it's personal preference.
This car takes about 135l in both tanks.

All things equal, an auto will always use slightly more fuel in my experience...
