When I bought the vehicle it already had a leaky steering box. It seems to be getting worse.

The steering play is good and the steering function is fine, its just leaky. I imagine there's an o ring or gasket seal under the lock ring that's knackered. Is it that simple? anyone fixed this before? tips?

Yip, there's an o-ring.

Looks like you can just remove the nut assembly and replace the o-ring

There should also be a copper washer there.

Excuse my ignorance, but how do you get to the o ring?

1. do you remove four nuts (red)?
2. only loosen centre nut (blue)
or
3. use flat screwdriver on yellow?

Fanus, I've never actually been in there, but looking at the picture, remove the nut (blue arrow) and the O ring should be right there.
Take note, the thing with the screwdriver slot is the adjustment. That should be kept in thd same place or adjusted very slightly in. Only adjust that with the front axle jacked off the ground and the engine running, and turn the steering lock to lock between each 1/8th turn and the next. You can easily jam the steering up and maybe even damage the steering box if you over-do the adjustment.

Has anyone serviced their power steering pump? mine sound like a bearing is noisy.

I see there is a seal kit

but looks like bearing comes with the shaft:
