2016 Patrol - Engine noise and barn door rattle

Hi Guys,

After the purchase of 2016 4.8, I have been to Clarens and KGTP. The ride was smooth and perfect to my liking. I was towing a small trailer, so the fuel consumption I got was 5.5, even with a big odd looking roof rack on top.

But thats not the issue. During these trips, I have noticed squeaky noise from the engine bay, I can hear this only if the driver window is open, because it's not loud enough to hear if the all windows are closed. However, when parked and if I rev the engine, then I hear nothing, meaning this is noticeable during driving only. Car is still under warranty, so Nissan will fix it. But i was wondering if anyone of you had a similar issue. I can go to Nissan and ask them to look at it, but they might give me a bull $hit story.

The other problem is annoying rattle from the barn door. This is odd, I previously owned a 3.0 CRD, but it wasn't a problem then. But I cant understand why a new car would rattle so bad. I even asked Nissan Roodepoort to strip the door's and tighten the bolts if any, but even after that i still hear that annoying rattle. A search in our forum, I realised this is a common issue or is it?

My 2013 CRD barn door ratteld so much and sometimes the door light on the cluster would flicker. I adjusted the lock. Put some insolation tape over the metal part on body where the lock clips onto and that was the end of it.

Get a new radio or check current speakers , if radio and speakers work properly then you do not hear funny noises

I will try that. Now that you mention, even my old patrol had some kind of threading done to the U shaped latch.

Thanks,

I had adjusted the top latch as well, as I had a few squeaks, and it didn't seem to help. What I eventually noticed was that the latch on the door side was getting gunked up with dust and it wasn't moving freely. After cleaning it up a bit and some clean oil on the spring mechanism it shut properly and no more squeaks.

Once you close the bigger door, pull gently at the top half where the hinge is and see if it has movement or not. There should be zero movement on the hinge mechanism. It's a common problem but best to get it sorted sooner before it gets worse and stresses the rest of the hinges.

I get a rattle / squeek sound from the (flimsy) arial in wind. I think it comes from the bottom below the fender.
