60L Additional feul tank

Post by offroadbiker »

I would like to fit an additional 60L fuel tank underneath the GQ to supplement to long range tank, not doing the jerry can thing again!

What are my options, or who will be able to build on for me?

So ver as moontlik!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nee, ek het slegs een brandstof tenk in, so ek soek graag so 60L langs die propshaft - da is meer as genoeg plek.

Dirk

Standaard kan jy seker kry by Dawid.
Die enigste meriete in custom is potensiele groter kapasiteit.
Skilpad se tweede tenk is 'n 60liter custom tenk.

I have a 65l aftermarket tank in my GU and I know Manie has one as well. Of course no idea who made them and if will fit GQ.

Problem is it interferes with the handbrake cable. I think Errol said he had sorted Manie's but mine still needs some work.

Dirk, I am busy with a design for a 60L water/fuel tank for the GU patrol, that will be mounted in such a way that cracking will be pretty much eliminated. There is a LOT of design detail to ensure this. Juice ( Greg) will be doing the manufacturing of the tank as he is well versed in stainless steel and aluminium welding. Its not just a simple cut some plates and weld them together, as then you are looking for cracks to develop over time and then you loose diesel when you need it most!!

This is a concept drawing ( cant find my final 3D model on my work PC ) of the water tank that I want to build that fits under the body on the passenger side of a GU. I will also have one for the drivers side too for the guys that don't have sub tanks. Please note that this drawing doesn't show any mounting / fixing brackets etc.

There will also be a housing for water pump ( or fuel pump ) protection, plus all the internals that are needed to ensure water ( fuel )stability and delivery.

If you like I can work on a set up for a GQ.

Cedric. When you do the drivers side just be careful of that handbrake cable interference. It does not affect the operation but causes it to stretch prematurely.

I think Errol is able to help with what the exact problem is.

Are you talking specific for the GQ or GU? On my current aftermarket 60L subtank that is fitted under the drivers side I have seen the cables etc running and mine clears sufficiently, so all good so far. I will definitively recheck this to ensure no interference.

"Rule of thumb" is as jy 1000km lang pad onder normale toestande kan ry, is jy oraait vir meeste overland toepassings.
So ek neem aan jy praat van 800km onder 'n kombinasie van sand/4x4 and ander toestande?
Anders klink jou diesel swaar!

Toe moes ek twee keer 20liter ingooi, by twyfelagtige plekke (en my pomp kon skade gekry het daar).
