Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know when the Patrols got a reasonable level of safety features fitted to them? Things like airbags and ABS etc?
Did the 4.5s get these? Or did it only start to come in with the 4.8s, and if so from what year?

I know if I tried hard enough I could find this on google, but I thought I would try here first.

Thanks Wilkie, it's not urgent, I've just wondering about it for now. I'm thinking this will be the best angle to convince my wife that she needs a patrol as a replacement for her little car as it will be safe for carrying babies. :)

I know some 4.5 models have ABS (but not all). And I think the same counts for airbags too.

I just saw now on a 2001 4.5 that's for sale that it has airbags.
So I reckon I'll be safe with looking at any age 4.8 that it will have all the features to make the sale easy enough to my wife. Haha

The airbag is whatever you hit that weighs less than 3 tons

My 2000 4.5 (grx) got airbags and abs....
My 2008 4.2 pickup got neither
I think all 4.8's and 3.0's got both. (Not sure?)....

Yes I think its a mix and match, but more or less what Fanus said.
I think all the GRX models in the 4.5 has driver and passanger airbags and also ABS. Not 100% sure but I think so.
My 4.2 GL has driver airbag and ABS, but no passanger airbag

I think weight advantage should be the deciding aspect.
A 3 star rated 3 ton vehicle will aleays come out tops when colliding with a 5 star rated 1 or 2 ton vehicle....
