15" rims

Gents

Ok I have started a new topic as its not really relevant to the existing ones.

Im looking to maybe go to 15" tyres for my Patrol for a couple of reasons, but I am now facing a couple of new challanges to overcome.
Here is just a list of pro's and cons which I am facing.

Fro's
1. 15" tyres are a bit cheaper than 16" if I compare 33". I can get General Grabbers for R2,300/tyre without shopping around.
2. 15" 33's looks better than 16" 33's
3. they are a bit fatter than 16" which I do like quite a bit
4. For offroading I think the 15" will do better than the 16" as I can deflate them a bit more and the footprint is slightly bigger. (Im sure not everyone will agree on my views here)

Cons
1. 15" rims are very scares...... don't know where to find at this stage
2. Not 100% sure how much and if there are enough space between the rims and calipers if I go 15" without modifying too much.
3. I have read that there is not sufficient cooling on the brakes if you go 15", hope someone can comment on this that has 15" already....not sure how true this is.
4. How much more "roll" on the tyres is there compared to 16"?

Not to start with I have no idea what the standard offset is on my 16" steelies, so I don't know what to look for in the search for 15" rims.
Will appreciate some info from the more experienced guys in this department.

The only 15" wheel that errols (and probably A-line?) stock that would fit a patrol is this one: http://www.errolstyres.co.za/wheel/a-li ... 7/82360014 (15x8.0|6x139|-19 15")
(inquired a while ago as I was also considering 15" wheels).

When I enquired about this a while ago I did not go this route as I was told;

1. You need to put on a spacer to get the available 15" rims to fit over the caliper (This would probably affect the cooling as well as suggested although I was not told that).
2. There is no 15" steel rim on the market in SA that is even half as strong as the 16" Nissan steelie. If you just feel the weight this makes sense.

Michael I agree on all your PRO's on 15" tyres
The problem is the rim to fit over the calipers.. as you would recall I had 15"x33 on my Patrol for last years River trip and worked brilliant However I had to run 30mm spacers and on articulation the rear tyres would rub against inner wheel wells and the front wheel would rub when turning full lock.If I did not have to fit spacers ,the tyres would still have been on my Patrol
Those were the only negative I have on 15"x33
Brakes running hot Never we not racing and i'm still using the same disc pads I bought the car with..
The only possible problem can be from when mud or a stone gets stuck between caliper and rim it can cut the rim open but you can always put rim scrapers in

If you find the right rim you can order me a set as wheel

Thanks for the input so far guys.

I must say, the heat issue doesn't bother me really, Like you say Errol we are not going to race with them.
Do you perhaps know what offset those rims were Errol? I did some research and it seems like the standard steel rims are +10

David, I agree that the standard 16" steelies are very strong, have heard of many 15" rims cracking.
I am leaning more towards alloy rims at this stage......If I can find.

The Aussies run -20 to -22 offset rims for what its worth
