Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Hi all,

We went to Mabalingwe over the weekend with the GQ, she ran like a dream, but once I arrive at Mabalingwe I noticed a rattle that sounded like something quite big.
Over the weekend the rattle got worse and worse. I cant find anything loose in the engine bay. Im pretty sure its the engine mounts that have gone now.
Owning old vehicles is getting a little tiring now.

Apparently changing engine mounts is a pretty easy DIY, is this the case with the GQ?

My passenger side mount went on my GU years back.
You'll notice it especially when reversing, there'll be a vibration.
Wasn't a big job.
With something like an engine mount, I rather opted for original from the stealer...I mean dealer
I just feel that it's a serious component, seeing that the whole motor is held into the vehicle by that little piece of steel and rubber. Not something I'd like to fail going down the freeway with some pace.

Yes, when it first started on the Friday night it was definitely a lot more noticeable when reversing, ok, so I reckon Im on the right track with thinking its engine mountings then. Cool.

Generally the passenger side will go first because of the direction of the crank rotation and torque on engine when under power.
If I remember correctly the mount from the dealer was a bit pricey, like R600-800, but was totally worth it.
My old Patrol now has over 350 000km and the owner says she's still running like a dream.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the info on the price. That's actually not as bad as I thought, phew.

Most of the PAtrol engine mounts are very well designed, with a "safety hook" that will keep the motor reasonably in place even if the rubber fails completely. The worst that will happen is some damage to the fan and cowl.

Passenger side mount is pretty easy to replace, driver's side requires more dismantling.

There are a number of places that will "re-build" these things for a couple of hundred bucks, but don't waste your time as they won't last. Just get from the stealers.

So I spent an excessive amount of time at the parts desk at Nissan Brits this morning trying to find engine mounts. Even with the vin number and engine number they couldn't come right. The guy managed to narrow it down to two possible parts but we're not sure still.
Does anyone know what the part number is for these things?

Oh, and the one was R1204 and the other one R1350 or something, so I'm in for a lot of money here. Dammit.
