Welcome Bartho,

Yeah those 4.8's are very nice. Why your preference for manual?

Thanks Abrie

I do lots of rather serious dune driving and except for the BMW X3 3.0D with it's excellent steptronic found that auto boxes cannot cope with the last 3% , 97% upwards  of extreme driving. Saw that 4.5 cruisers and 4.7 v8 cruisers with auto boxes arn't as good in the dunes.... changing gears at the wrong times, cannot be revved to the limiter etc. Mind you the perfect vehicle for my would have been my 105 with a BMW X3 Steptronic box

Interesting discussion on manual vs auto. But I guess for the extreme stuff, manual control will always be better.
Would be an interesting combination, but where would you fit the transfer case:think:

Would the Patrol be an additional car or replacing the Cruiser? Your Cruiser must be awsome.

Got a very, very good offer on the cruiser so it almost sold (as soon as the money is in the bank it is .... )so now i will have to start a new project ... but the cruiser was awesome 230 kw / 510 nmt ......... Thats why the patrol will go for a supercharger as the moment i bought it

WOW, now that will be a monster. Please keep us up to date.
This would be a good starting point: http://search.autotrader.co.za/www/cars ... 3186218214.
You would probably be able to buy the Patrol and do the mods with the money you get for the Cruiser. Now that is what I call a good deal.

Yes it's incredible that such a good vehicle (patrol) have such poor resale value. In fact i am going to look at a brand new one in the dealership this afternoon , special on for November where you get N$ 100 000-00 off price as well as inhouse specials on financing(lower rates etc.) :surprised:

Imagine Toyota EVER doing that ........... WWW

The new Patrol is overpriced at R650k at the moment. However at R100k less it become a really good deal. As long as you dont pay too much for it new, second hand value is relative.
But I must agree with you, I just think most people are not aware how good a vehicle the Patrol is.
