More manne,
So my nuwe turbo is oppad maar ek het besluit die exhaust moet sommer in terwyl ek nou besig is.
Ek gaan 3" deur sit maar is daar geen bokse in nie. Of sit mens maar n free flow box in die agterste posisie?

More Paul

Hi Paul. I too want to fit a 3 inch exhaust on my Patrol so am watching this topic for advice from the members. I was thinking of going to Power flow in Durban to have it done but is there a better option? I also believe that being diesel, its pointless to go stainless steel. Is this right?
Regards

Thanks for the replies.
Yes I hope to get more replies on this tread, since I want to start building that exhaust by Tuesday as soon as my new turbo arrives.
I was in George yesterday and popped in at the local Powerflow shop. They wanted to nail me R5500 for a mild steel pipe.
I have a business card in my desk drawer of a place in Bloemfontein that quoted me R2200 for a Stainless steel pipe. (This price did not include fitting)
Since I stay in Graaff-Reinet and we are very limited to what is availible, I decided to buy lengths of 3" pipe and also got a piece what has lots of various bends in it, so I will cut and weld in my workshop.
I also think that since it is diesel, a mild steel system should be fine.
Michael Thanks for your input. I value all your comments and prompt reply. I would like to have more comments on this tread. Otherwise I will go completely free flow and if I find it to be noisy, I will install a free flow box next month. Doing a turbo and exhaust in one month drained my resources a bit.

I installed a 3" exhaust about 4 weeks ago. Mild steel is fine. I installed a freeflow box only for a bit of added beat. The 3.0 liter is very quiet. The down pipe is very important if you want to gain on power. Mine is 3 inches from the turbo flange. I gained +-66 nm just from the exhaust. You can check my xhaust post under "my zd30 had some tlc. "

Mine is still standard, but with all the positive feedback my Patrol will be getting one of these in the not too distant future.

I paid R2200 for a 3" pipe from turbo to back. (Mildsteel). Same place Josh did his in Nigel. Just dont go there on a friday.
They close shop for an hour to go pray, if they not finish you have to wait for them to come back... WWW

I had a stainless 3 inch pipe with no box fitted. Can't remember cost? Was around 2k? The fit is tricky! Lots of interesting bends and space is quite tight in some areas.
Power wise the diff is amazing! He spools unbelievably fast... wants to rev! A bit noisy for my liking and I will have a box fitted at some stage. He also has a vibration at 2000rpm that needs fixing!
