Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

I need new tyres for my 2500GRX.

What is the recommended biggest size to fit(16" rims), without loosing too much power?
Will 33" tyres have a negative impact on the gearing of the vehicle, how noticeable will this be?

Who all is running 285/75r16's on their 4500's?

Would a 255/85r16 not be better with regard to power loss, due to less rolling resistance? (I am running 255/85r16's on my 4.2TD and cannot complain about power/gearing issues at all...)

Or is the main factor (wrt power loss), the size(diameter) of the tyre impacting the gearing and not so much the width of the tyre?

Fanus we have discussed this extensively before ...33 is the way to go 285 75 16 the 255 85 tends to go side to side a little.
Tell you what you now have 2 patrols put the bakkie wheels on the car and do some tests see if you are happy . Dont think the difference in resistance between 285 and 255 is big but the 285 is more stable imho

Soos ek verstaan het die 4.2td die selfde ratkas as die 4500 (manual)?
Beteken dit dan indien 33" bande werk op die 4.2td, dan sal dit ook werk vir die 4500.
DIe gearing sal mos dieselfde wees tussen die twee?

Have you always had this size on? If not, was there any remarkable difference when upsizing. eg do you have to use 4th gear more than what you use to have?

Fanus ek het 265/65/16 op my 4500 patrol maar ek het laas jaar op die River trip 33/12.5/15 op gehad en ek dink my kar het lekkerder gery en ligter op brandstof gewees.
die enigste problem was die rims was 10' gewees en het teen die calipers gevang en ek moes 30mm spacers op sit (like dit nie)
soo ek hoop om 285/75/16 M/T op te sit voor Swazi trip ...

Ek kan 4 x 285/75r16 cooper st maxx kry vir R12k. (2 is nuut, 2 het 5k km gedoen...)

Nuwe bande kos 3650 elk ek koop eerder nuut dan wat is die date stamp op daai tekkies

Het vandag kwotasie gedoen op Coopers STT PRO 285x75x16 R3700.00 per band vat en monteering ingesluit

285's are the choice i would go for. specially for the 4.5
