Unabridged Birth Certificate - Important Info!!

Good Morning Gents, from a somewhat dry but still as beautiful as always Eastern Free State.
I thought I should share the following info; if a pal of mine didn't tell me this, I would have been turned away at the Maseru border post on Wednesday.
I went to the Roof of Africa rally with my 2 boys, my wife stayed home with the girls.
1) You MUST have certified copies of the UBC's, the original ones are not enough (but also take the original UBC with).
2) If only one parent is travelling with the kid(s), he/she MUST have a certified copy of the other parent's ID, as well as a letter from that parent acknowledging that he/she knows that so and so child with so and so ID number is with you, you are travelling so and so, and you are away on so and so dates.
(2) above is VERY important, there is no chance that they'll let you go through without it.
I'm not sure, but my logic tells me that the above will also be the case with divorcees - if the kid(s) are the biological ones. If Oupa and Ouma have the kids, I guess a Letter as above would also be needed from both parents.
Hope this helps......I didn't think of it, and, like I said, if my pal didn't tell me this, our weekend would have been a nightmare.
