Louis, can I suggest a tripple-jerry can carrier at the rear to pull the thirsty engine through all the sand?
Ben can make you on to swivel.

Leave two days for Livingstone and visit the Zimbabwe side of the falls as well, worth every cent you spend there.

Thanks for the feedback.

Definately need at least 4 jerry's. 2 on the caravan and 2-4 on the roof.

Some more questions:
1. Allowed to take meat/cheese etc into Bots?
2. Allowed to pick up firewood in the parks?
3. Do I need documentation for vehicles other than registration / letter from Bank / letter from insurer?

When we did botz when piet got married the part from maun to kasane was heavy on the feul ....4.8 doesn't like driving in convoy or lead the way if you have to becouse even in tiptronic it gears down to suit your speed corresponding with the guy in front of you .
I had 4 jeŕry cans on the roof and had to buy 40l from a boat opperator and stil slid into kasane with the feul light on .....
please be careful the 4.8 sucks feul ....when your wheels are to hard and you use the wrong gear you can sit at 2km per liter easy....

We went through a Botswana border post a couple of weeks back and nobody even asked about meat but as far as I understood it you can take meat into Bots currently up to 25/20kg per person.

I would also suggest the Stockpoort border post going to Khama, smaller and quieter.

WHY would you want to take meeat into Botswana ?? Botswana is THE meat producing country in Southern Africa [and most of Africa]
Which border post are you going in on your way NORTH ?
I get my meat at Lobatse when I go to Botswana - Choppies & SPAR 's meats are good .. and half the price of tha SA meats [Fillet cost less than T Bone & Rump ..]

Thanks for all the replies.

Tinus, did you tow anything on your trip? Did you do a lot of extra game viewing?
