Johannes van die See needs your advice!
Hi all.
I'm new here and need your advice.
I am a few days away from making a very important decision and cant make up my mind.
I have decided to sell my Hilux and upgrade to a Nissan Patrol, the main reason is to have a vehicle with the correct GCM to tow my 2Ton boat legally.
There are two Patrols I've already set my mind on and this is where I need all your advice.
First I found a 2008 4.8 GRX Auto Tiptronic for sale by a dealer in Umhlange (No extras), yes you guys should know which one I'm talking about, it was discussed by Graham on the forum as well. I was able to negotiate some discount and have quite a few things fixed and changed out.
I'm getting this Patrol with 159,000km on the clock for R249k with new tyres, steer damper and a few other changes to get rid of a vibration it had. With a substantial deposit the Finance was approved and I'm looking at a installment of R3200/m. Not bad.
Then yesterday I was told about an older Patrol for sale, not advertised yet so I have the opportunity to pick up a very good deal.
2003 4.8 Auto
277,000Km
Extras: Roof Rack, Awning, Mags + Cooper STT tyres, Spots, Dual Battery System.
Price: R135,000 Cash deal.
I'm a bit concerned about the high mileage but some people say it's nothing for a Patrol.
Advantage is that I wont have additional dept and could spend more on extras on the 2003 model.
What would you do?
Thanks for your advice.

Re: Johannes van die See needs your advice!
welcome Johannes
firstly going to a Patrol for towing your boat, ,you wont regret it
Idont think you will have to worry about high mileage on any of the patrol engines and they are robust ,,,,,,,and thirsty
I have the 4.500 grx and I tow a 3ton boat with 260 000km on the clock and it doesn't miss a beat or drink a drop of oil
Good luck and enjoy fishing.

Re: Johannes van die See needs your advice!
Wekom Johannes, ek's bly jy's uiteindelik hier.

Re: Johannes van die See needs your advice!
Agree with Peter. Yes these cars are capable of many thousands of kilometers, but its not only the motor that one should keep in mind. Thing like door hinges, rubber seals, wiring ext. get worn, old and hard. This leads to failures as well. So buy the newer one if you can afford to. There was a nice one with less kilos and less price just in this week. Shop around.
Being alive is a Blessing!!

Joshua
